Wade In The Water

Monday, April 21st, 2008

wade.jpg

In August 2006 I traveled to New Orleans for a week to work with two of my best friends, Gabe Nussbaum and Elizabeth Wood, on their documentary about a group of kids in the first school to re-open post Katrina. This weekend the film premiered and won the Audience Choice “New Orleans Rebirth” Award at the International Human Rights Film Festival! Jody and I went down to shoot a follow-up (and possible new ending) at the premiere.

Our visit conveniently coincided with the New Orleans Pirate Film Festival. Overheard conversation:

Local : Eat a d*ck, get out of our f*cking town!

Pirate: Shut your mouth.

Supermarché Nominated for a Webby! Vote!

Wednesday, April 9th, 2008

devito.jpg

We’ve been nominated for a Webby Award, which I’ve been told are like the Academy Awards for things on the internet, except not hosted by Billy Crystal.

This great honor has been bestowed upon our video “What’s the Big Idea? (with Danny DeVito)” which we made for GOOD Magazine’s cover story in December.

Please vote for our video so we might have a shot at a “People’s Voice” award!!

you will find our film in the “Online Film & Video” section under the “Variety” category.

We’re up against such small fries as The New York Times so a groundswell of pro-Supermarché sentiment could really help us out.

if you haven’t seen the video, click here to check it out on youtube.

also better quality right here on our website.

Remember to spread the word, and thanks!

All You Need is Beth

Tuesday, April 8th, 2008

Creative Time asked my dear old friend Carlton DeWoody (pictured) to write a song in honor of his mother Beth Rudin DeWoody. Were making the music video with Andrew Zuchero. It’s full of green screen magic and stop-motion origami. The video premiers on April 23rd at a Creative Time benefit honoring Beth.

Surprising Grandpa Marvin

Saturday, April 5th, 2008

Dear Diary, A few weeks ago Grandpa Marvin fell asleep at the wheel and got into a bad car crash.  He’s ok but he gave up his license, which is a big deal for an American male.

Happy Birthday to You (Simone)

Friday, April 4th, 2008

Dear Diary, Last night we had a little birthday party at the office for Simone. It was really nice and a little dancey towards the end. Here Henry presents her with a strawberry short cake and Nev plays “happy birthday” on violin which he learned from Pico 5 minutes earlier.

My Favorite Stretches of Road, #1

Friday, April 4th, 2008

Dear Diary, tonight i skated home in the pouring rain.  My head was freezing.  Up Lafayette from Bond St. to Astor Place is my favorite stretch between the office and home.  It’s a little bit downhill, the buildings are low and old, the cement is smooth and the bike lane is wide.
